Summary of
4000 Series "Standard Configurations"

PLEASE NOTE: Initial setup parameters which can easily be defined by the operator via the instrument's front-panel buttons are not given here—e.g., channel on DISPLAY, channel DIGITAL FILTERING constants, channel CALIBRATION VALUES (including LINEARIZATION POINTS), channel LIMIT VALUES, "NODE" NUMBER (for "N" Option instruments only), BAUD RATE, NUMBER OF DATA BITS, NUMBER OF STOP BITS, and PARITY.

Also, details of internal LIMIT LOGIC, LOGIC SOURCING, "CALCULATES," and "EXECUTES" employed for "standard configuration" functions are not given here (they may be found in the respective 4000 Series Instrument Instruction Manuals).

16 MAXIMUM value of Channel 15 since last reset
17 MINIMUM value of Channel 15 since last reset
18 "MAX MINUS MIN" value of Channel 15 since last reset

CHANNEL RANGES AND SCALING

Channel 1 is initially set for a full-scale transducer range of 3.00 mV/V; Channel 2 is initially set for a full-scale transducer range of 8000 Hz and an input sensitivity range of 250 mV to 15 V; Channel 2's active low-pass filter is initially set for the response characteristics given as "3" in the Model 4040 Specifications

LOGIC I/O PORTS

0 NONLATCHING OUTPUT: "Live" Torque with Tare (Channel 5) is "OK" (i.e., greater than or equal to "LOL" limit value and less than or equal to "HIL" limit value)
1 NONLATCHING OUTPUT: "Live" Frequency (RPM) with Tare (Channel 10) is "OK" (i.e., greater than or equal to "LOL" limit value and less than or equal to "HIL" limit value)
2 NONLATCHING OUTPUT: "Live" Horsepower (Channel 15) is "OK" (i.e., greater than or equal to "LOL" limit value and less than or equal to "HIL" limit value)
3-7 FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY

PROGRAMMABLE FRONT-PANEL BUTTONS

1 "UNIT-OF-MEASURE STEP DOWN": Steps downward through the UNIT-OF-MEASURE display, lighting each front-panel unit legend in turn (HP, rpm, lb-ft).  The unit whose legend is currently illuminated is the "SELECTED UNIT OF MEASURE"
2 "UNIT-OF-MEASURE STEP UP": Steps upward through the UNIT-OF-MEASURE display, lighting each front-panel unit legend in turn (lb-ft, rpm, HP).  The unit whose legend is currently illuminated is the "SELECTED UNIT OF MEASURE"
3

"TARE TORQUE INPUT"

If the "LIVE" DATA value of TORQUE has been selected for display, zeroes Channel 5 so that subsequent readings of Channel 5 will represent the value of Channel 1 minus the existing value of that channel (now stored as a constant "tare" offset).

If the "LIVE" DATA value of RPM or HORSEPOWER—or the "MAX," "MIN," or "MAX MINUS MIN" value of any of the three units of measure—has been selected for display, pushing Button No. 3 will have no effect.

4

"FUNCTION STEP": Steps through a display of the following functions for the selected unit of measure:

"LIVE" DATA VALUE (if "HP" is selected, this is Channel 15; if "rpm," Channel 10; and if "lb-ft," Channel 5)—lights the "F1" indicator

MAX VALUE (if "HP" is selected, this is Channel 16; if "rpm," Channel 11; and if "lb-ft," Channel 6)—lights the "F3" indicator

MIN VALUE (if "HP" is selected, this is Channel 17; if "rpm," Channel 12; and if "lb-ft," Channel 7)—lights the "F4" indicator

MAX–MIN VALUE (if "HP" is selected, this is Channel 18; if "rpm," Channel 13; and if "lb-ft," Channel 8)—lights the "F5" indicator Channel 10; and if "lb-ft," Channel 5)—lights the "F1" indicator

5 "MAX/MIN RESET": Resets the "MAX-" and "MIN-"measuring functions of Channels 6, 7, 11, 12, 16, and 17
